Hortiglaze May 2021 Newsletter

What busy and exciting times we have been witness to alas tinged with sadness at the passing of HRH Prince Philip, a true gentleman and inspiration to many with his “tongue in cheek” sense of humour, an excellent husband and Consort to the Queen and an exemplary, distinguished military background, our thoughts remain with the Royal family and respect must be given to his scaled down funeral service due to the current situation – we salute you all.

April also brought us many frosty mornings and statistics show it was the frostiest April we have seen in 60 years with 25 days “air frost” but at least it gave way to some glorious sunshine and beautiful clear blue skies enhancing our evenings to enjoy a meal at various restaurants and public houses outdoors!

As we moved into May the old saying goes “in like a lion, out like a lamb” and Bank Holiday Monday certainly proved the first part very apt with more rainfall in certain areas of the country than we had seen throughout April!! But our green and pleasant land did need a good water!

What can we expect to see during the month of May in relation to the current easing of lockdown? Well from no earlier than the 17th indoor entertainment and visitor attractions will be allowed to re-open however this will still be limited to the “rule of 6” indoors and a group of no more than 30 outdoors – we do appear to be heading in the right direction and it will be a great relief to many when we can stop anticipating the next goal post!

Hopefully, with the continued vaccination progress and people maintaining social distancing we can still look forward to further normality returning no earlier than June 21st perhaps giving way to less economic decline and political mayhem!! Of course, we must continue to support our local high street and smaller independent businesses allowing them the opportunity to flourish with optimism moving forward.

Hortiglaze continued to work on a number of projects including groundwork preparation for new structures along with glass replacement, ventilation rack and pinion replacements, glasshouse cleaning and maintenance works for the commercial sector and we were lucky enough to have some beautiful weather to carry out these duties!! Remedial works benefit our commercial growers ensuring the best yield may be harvested with peace of mind that their glasshouses are in peak condition!! Check out our Facebook page and experience some of the lovely images of scheduled works.

Whatever the weather we always work to the highest standard and diligently undertake all projects – regardless of size – with efficiency and dedication to our customers fulfilling their requirements and often surpassing their expectations.

Together we can produce the best.
